It's customary to give your bridesmaids a gift as a way of saying thank you for participating in your wedding. Making them feel appreciated for the time, effort, and money they contributed to your special day is so important. It's also important that they actually like what you give them!
While a silver-plated picture frame with your wedding date engraved on it may seem like a grand idea to you, it's probably not too high on your bridesmaids' wish list. Do you know what your bridesmaids really want?
Here are a few meaningful and incredibly practical ways to say "I appreciate you!" and "I couldn't have pulled this off without your help" to your bridesmaids...
- Chip In! If your bridesmaids have to travel a great distance, or you picked a rather pricey bridesmaid dress, or if you want your bridesmaids to have their hair and/or makeup and/or nails professionally done, then perhaps consider chipping in or even paying for some of these items. You will be a hero in their eyes! While most bridesmaids understand that it will cost them something to participate in your wedding, it shouldn't break their bank!

Jewelry they can wear after the wedding! Can you ever go wrong with a nice piece of jewelry as a way of saying thank you? I don't think so! A pretty heart bangle bracelet or a necklace— that they can wear not only for the wedding but after as well—would be a super way to say, "Hey, thanks for being a part of my big day!"A personalized necklace is loved by everyone. Putting her name, initial, or monogram on a necklace is a great way to give her a gift that will become her favorite piece of jewelry for years to come. Don't forget, if you want to give custom jewelry, make sure you order it in advance of the wedding. Sometimes it can take 2-4 weeks to arrive, and if it's being engraved by hand, add a week. It doesn't hurt to let your ladies know that "Jewelry is taken care of," although you don't have to show it to them before your big day, you can take away thoughts of "What am I going to wear with the dress?"

Personalize It! Look for something that celebrates each bridesmaid's individual personality. What are her hobbies? If one's a book lover, perhaps a gift certificate to a bookstore would make her day. Maybe one in your group is a total foodie—how about a gift certificate to her favorite restaurant? Your friends will genuinely appreciate being thought of as separate individuals and not lumped into one group by a one-size-fits-all gift.
Feel free to take something off your plate on your wedding day and give your gifts at the rehearsal dinner. And remember, no matter what gift you decide to give, including a hand-written thank you note with it is a wonderful way to personalize it even more!
