We're Answering Your Most Common Jewelry Questions

We compiled a list of the most commonly asked questions in our store to help you learn and/or make decisions about your jewelry!

So, what do you have in my budget?

We cater to all budgets. From our Bryan Anthony line, which ranges around $30-$60, all the way up to $15,000 engagement rings-- we can find you just what you are looking for.

"I love helping people find their dream piece within their budget. It makes my job really special".

I am not loving anything I am finding... what do I do?

We have one word...CUSTOM! Between our staff's experience with CAD designing and our in-house jeweler, Sue, we can make your custom jewelry dreams come true. This goes for pendants, engagement rings... basically anything you can think of. The possibilities are endless. Here is a custom black diamond engagement ring that we designed with a customer!

Can I trade in my jewelry that I have for something new, or use it to upgrade in some way?

You betcha! If you want to, say, take a diamond from your engagement ring and trade in the gold shank to help make it into a pendant... your wish is our command. You can also trade in jewelry to get some extra cash, or to help offset the price of something else. *But please note, we are not obligated to purchase your items.

"There is no such thing as too much jewelry! "
-Amanda, Sales Associate

Do you do jewelry repair on items that were not purchased at Mullens?

Yes we do! We really love bringing your family heirloom pieces to life or making another piece you originally loved to be just what you want once again. And better yet, it stays all-in house!

What is the difference between 10K, 14K and 18K gold?

These numbers tell you how much pure gold a piece actually contains (whatever percentage out of 24 total carats). So, 10K gold contains about 42 % of pure gold, which is then mixed with other metals. 18k gold is about 75% pure gold, having among the highest percentage of pure gold. This graph shows you what percentages go with each one...

What is the difference between Lab-Grown and Mined Diamonds?

While it may seem kind of obvious by the name, the main difference between Lab and Mined diamonds is how they are sourced. Lab diamonds are grown in a lab (man-made) and share chemical and optical properties of a mined diamond. Since they aren't coming from the Earth, however, they are considered different than a mined diamond that does. But, just like mined diamonds, you can get a different cut, clarity, and color depending on your price. It is more cost effective a beautiful Lab Grown diamond given they are man-made. However, a diamond from the Earth has natural inclusions or marks that make it unique and rare. Both are valuable-- just differently sourced and different in their own ways! Shown below is a 3ct Lab Grown Diamond!

"You can't Go Wrong with Diamonds "
-Deb, Sales Associate

Do you offer a financing option?

Yes we do! Through Wells Fargo, we offer 12 month interest free financing to help you get the jewelry of your dreams while being able to pay it off over time.
