We here are Mullen Bros. Jewelers are committed to helping you get the yes! It's really what we are all about. We love helping you find the perfect ring for your perfect partner.
Now, it appears we are not the only ones committed to getting the yes! Some individuals went all out to get that yes, including spending MILLIONS to do so.
Now, I'm not advocating that you spend everything in your checking account or go broke for an engagement ring. Not at all. In fact, I'm a huge fan of staying within your budget and being able to get an amazing ring. It doesn't have to wreak havoc with your finances or put you in debt. I believe you can get an incredible diamond engagement ring for under $3000!
So, with that being said, here are 5 people who went all out and spent a small fortune on some absolutely astounding diamond engagement rings...
Prince Rainier III of Monaco held nothing back when he proposed to the lovely Grace Kelley in 1955 with an out-of-this-world 10.47 emerald-cut diamond ring by the incomparable Cartier.
Let's face it—Beyonce and Jay Z never do anything halfway. They always make a statement, whether it's with their music, houses, or jewelry. Jay Z bought her an 18 carat emerald-cut flawless center diamond set on a split shank band with micro-pavé diamonds in platinum designed by Lorraine Schwartz. Wow and double wow!
Kim's another one who isn't necessarily into subtlety. Kanye actually designed her ring himself and he pulled no punches. Kim’s ring is a 15 carat D color, flawless cushion cut diamond, created by Lorraine Schwartz, and the diamond is set as a solitaire on a thin platinum band with micro-pavé diamonds. To call it exquisite would be an understatement.
Elizabeth Taylor had the all-time title for largest and most expensive celebrity engagement ring with her whopper of a ring: a 33-carat asscher cut Krupp Diamond set in platinum! Amazing!
But Mariah Carey now holds the title for most expensive engagement ring ever (at least for now!): Her behemoth engagement from James Packer is 35 carats.. Yes, you read that correctly, 35 CARATS! The emerald-cut diamond, made by Wilfredo Rosado, is flanked by two delicate tapered baguette diamonds and set in platinum. It's a STUNNER!
Again, I don't believe you have to spend a fortune. In fact, here are a few of my favorite diamond engagement rings for under $5000:
