Building an appropriate jewelry collection for work does not have to be stressful. In fact, I don't think anything to do with jewelry needs to be stressful. Shopping for and choosing jewelry should be a joy, not a chore!
Finding the right jewelry to match your working wardrobe can be a cinch with the right pieces and a few "guidelines." I say "guidelines" because I'm not too big into rules when it comes to your personal style.
While there are a variety of different working environments, the following "guidelines" should work in most of them. Here are a few things to consider when choosing jewelry for work...
Be Yourself: Your personal style is just that, personal! And whether you're planning an outfit for work or a night out, your jewelry choices should reflect your tastes and desires.
But Don't be Over-Powered: Expressing yourself through jewelry is a personal choice, but it's probably best that your jewelry doesn't take over and you end up lost in the bling! Statement necklaces are awesome, but if it's such a statement that people can't hear what you're saying, it's probably good to reconsider it! Look for work jewelry that enhances your outfit, not overpowers it.
And Nix the Noise: An armful of bangles is fun and can look fantastic, but if your co-workers hear your jewelry coming down the hallway before they see you, you might need to lose a few bangles.
Keeping these few guidelines in mind will go a long way in helping you build a tasteful and professional jewelry wardrobe. In case you're wondering, here are a few of my favorite work place pieces!
Diamond Studs: Yes, they're back! You just can never ever go wrong with the classic diamond stud earring. Classy and elegant, diamond studs are always a nice addition to your wardrobe.
Watch: Watches are timeless (pun fully intended!) and are a must for any working wardrobe. The right watch looks professional and it's helpful too, in case your smart phone isn't handy!
Bar Necklace: I love our bar necklaces! These new "classic" pieces look sharp with anything and can be personalized as well...
Diamond Pendant: A classic diamond pendant adds just enough polish to your outfit without being over the top.
Hoop Earrings: Hoop earrings are an easy, go-to choice for work. They look clean and tasteful, as long as they're not too big. Consider wearing hoops with colorful diamonds in them for an added bonus!
